"We are sad to see summer camp coming to an end, my children had a fantastic time this year and are already looking forward to next year!"
Jenn Bartley | Summer Camp Director
Bridgewater College - Undergraduate Degree Eastern Mennonite University - Master’s Degree |
Summer Camp DirectorHello, my name is Jenn Bartley. I am a Staunton resident where I live with my husband, Andrew, our daughter, Lorelei, and our gray tabby cat, Mr. TT. I enjoy staying busy and active - you may find me at Jazzercise, exploring the outdoors, volunteering for a school event, or reading.
Growing up in Augusta County, I attended local public schools and set my sights on becoming a teacher as early as first grade. I earned my undergraduate degree from Bridgewater College in 2008 and completed my Master’s Degree at Eastern Mennonite University in 2013. In 2017, I joined Stuart Hall School after teaching in Rockingham County Public Schools, drawn by the school's emphasis on place-based and project-based learning. My time at Stuart Hall has been incredibly rewarding, and I’ve valued the opportunity to build meaningful connections within the community. I am thrilled to bring my teaching experience, local roots, and passion for education to Anna's House summer camp. Having worked closely with Christi since the school’s founding, I’ve been actively involved in its growth, including helping to establish the Parent Association four years ago. As a parent, I’ve seen the wonderful impact of Anna’s House firsthand—Lorelei has been a student there since it opened. In addition to my teaching background, I lead the Dragons after-school program, Dragonflies and Dragons, which has given me the privilege of working with many of Anna’s House students. I look forward to deepening my connections and contributing to the school’s mission this summer. |
Next year's themes are under construction below:
Week 1: An All-Star Summer Starts Here!
June 2-6, 2025 Get ready to kick off the summer in epic style with An All-Star Summer! This campwide tournament is all about fun, teamwork, and trying something new. From classic games to locally-popular sports, there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or just looking to have a blast, this is the perfect way to “kick off” summer camp. Let the games begin! |
Week 2: A Passport to the World
June 9-13, 2025 Pack your bags (and imagination) for a trip around the world! Campers will embark on a global journey to discover the traditions, art, music, and food of countries around the world. Each day focuses on a different culture, with hands-on activities like cooking international dishes, creating traditional crafts, learning songs and dances, and hearing stories from faraway lands. This immersive experience will spark curiosity, foster appreciation for diversity, and create connections in our community. Get ready to celebrate the beauty of our world in one incredible week! |
Week 3: Serve, Share, and Shine!
June 16-20, 2025 Discover how one small act of kindness can create waves of positivity! During this week of service learning, campers will learn about the exponential growth of a good deed and how it can inspire others to do the same. Through hands-on projects, creative challenges, and community outings, campers will find meaningful ways to spread joy and brighten the world around them. They will also get a chance to learn how community service workers in Staunton help others as well. Whether it’s collecting trash, creating uplifting messages, or volunteering locally, every action contributes to a chain of kindness. Join us for a week of making a difference - one good deed at a time! |
Week 4: Masterpiece Makers
June 23-27, 2025 Unleash your creativity and let your talents shine at Masterpiece Makers Camp! This week is packed with music, visual arts, and hands-on projects, including everyone’s favorite - campers will bring a labeled shirt to tie-dye! From painting and sculpting to singing and performing, there’s something for every budding artist to explore. The highlight of the week? A camp-wide Talent Show! Campers will take the stage to showcase their masterpieces and/or unique skills. Join us for an unforgettable week of art, creativity, and endless fun! |
Week 5: Emojis at Anna’s House or Exploring Emotions
June 30-July 4, 2025 Engage in a transformative week at Anna’s House Camp where campers embark on a journey of self-discovery. Through a blend of acting exercises and mindfulness practices, campers will explore and express their emotions in a safe and supportive environment. They'll learn how to recognize, understand, and manage their feelings while developing key acting skills to bring their emotions to life on stage. Mindfulness techniques, such as deep breathing and guided reflection, will help them build emotional awareness, foster self-compassion, and enhance focus, giving them tools they can carry with them both on and off the stage. By the end of the week, campers will have a deeper understanding of themselves and the power of emotional expression. |
Week 6: Once Upon a Camp: A Fairy Tale Adventure
July 7-11, 2025 Fairy Tale Week invites campers to step into a world where anything is possible and imagination reigns. Throughout the week, they’ll encounter kingdoms from far-off lands, royals, pirates, and fairies, each with their own adventures and lessons to share. As they step into these enchanting worlds, campers will reflect on the timeless question: Do any of us ever really want to grow up? With stories, crafts, and activities, they’ll celebrate the magic of childhood and the joy of fairy tales. And for our older campers, don’t miss out on Camp Anna’s House’s signature phenomenon, Kingdoms - a camper favorite that blends strategy, action, and a whole lot of fun. It's a week full of adventure, creativity, and discovering that the best part of any story is the journey itself. |
Week 7: Animal Adventures: Exploring the Wild
July 14-18, 2025 Animal Adventures is a week full of excitement and discovery, where campers dive into the wonders of the animal kingdom! Each day will transport them to a different ecosystem - whether swimming with creatures under the sea, exploring the world of mighty dinosaurs, or venturing through the lush jungle. We will even celebrate Shark Day on July 14! From learning about the animals that roam the earth to discovering the hidden worlds beneath the ocean waves, campers will engage in hands-on activities, games, and crafts that bring each habitat to life. This week of exploration is sure to spark curiosity, creativity, and a deeper connection to the natural world! |
Week 8: Construction Workshop
July 21-25, 2025 Get ready for a week of hands-on fun where campers tinker, build, and create at a Camp Anna’s House classic! This week is all about exploration, creativity, and a little bit of destruction. Campers will dive into the world of machines, electronics, and even food as they learn how things work by taking them apart and discovering what’s inside. From dismantling old gadgets to building something entirely new, kids will embrace the challenge of problem-solving and tinkering in the workshop - all in time for Christmas in July! With plenty of opportunities to experiment, innovate, and maybe even make a mess, this is one camp that’s sure to spark curiosity and excitement. Don’t miss out - this week is sure to fill up fast! |
